A little bit of history
In the years immediately following the end of World War 2 Edinburgh Corporation was keen to make up for the lack of fleet replacement which had affected all operators during the war. Birmingham Corporation was at the same time taking delivery of large numbers of Daimlers with Metro Cammell bodywork.
Edinburgh opted to order 72 to the same design. The Daimlers were renowned for their smooth running, thanks to their pre-select transmission. Bus 135 was transferred to the new Marine garage when it opened in 1962 and was used regularly on service 26.
