This tour departs from Edinburgh heading north to the historic university town of St Andrews. Here you will have the whole morning to explore this historic medieval seaside town known for its many golf courses, including the prestigious Old Course. To explore more about the history of the town itself, on a headland nearby are the ruins of St Andrews Castle, and close to the castle is the famous University of St Andrews, founded in 1413.

After lunch, from St Andrews, the tour heads south, along the coastline to the Kingsbarns Distillery & Visitor Centre. Still owned by the Wemyss family, they have a long-standing history and passion for real malt whisky. There’s a choice of tours which uncover the history of the name Kingsbarns and displays a film which exploring the connections the local area has with whisky. Find out about the distillation methods of the present day including the new Darnley’s Gin production before a sample or two in one of their tasting rooms.

The final stop on the Fife Coastal Trail tour takes us to the fishing village of Anstruther. Take an hour to explore what is the largest in a string of picture postcard, old-fashioned villages along this stretch of the Fife coast and sample a local ‘fish supper’.

Departing late afternoon, we head from Anstruther back to Edinburgh, following the amazing coastline and taking in several more charming coastal villages.
