Pitlochry • Aviemore • Funicular Railway • The Hermitage
From Edinburgh, this tour crosses the Firth of Forth towards the Highlands. The first stop is Pitlochry - one of Scotland’s most charming towns, rich in heritage and with views to complement. Take a stroll through the town, enjoy inviting gift shops, tea rooms and the famous salmon ladder dam.
After an hour in Pitlochry, the tour continues up into the Cairngorms National Park, through secluded lochs, mountain trails and vast parkland. The coach stops near the famous Scottish ski resort town of Aviemore to give you the chance to take the unique funicular railway up the CairnGorm Mountain to experience panoramic views of the Cairngorms mountain range. The tour also runs into Aviemore town itself where you will have the opportunity to try some very traditional Scottish fare with a great choice of cafés and restaurants. Check out the gift shops too, many offering local crafts and produce.
Departing late afternoon, on route back to Edinburgh, the tour stops at The Hermitage, a stretch of Perthshire forest, ideal for walking any time of the year. The paths are lined with Douglas firs and lead to the dramatic Black Linn Falls and the picturesque folly known as Ossian’s Hall, built in 1757.
